Postojna Cave tickets and prices

One ticket puts you on the cave train. Another gets you into a castle built into a cliff. Here is what each costs in 2026, and which day trips have already paid for them.

Postojna Cave Park sells the tickets for both sights: the cave, Predjama Castle 9 km away, and a handful of smaller attractions. The park says standalone cave tickets are sold only on its own website, and its ticket page opens with a warning about unofficial offers.

Day tours from Ljubljana are a separate product. Some fold the official tickets into the price and some don't, and the listings look almost identical. The prices below were read from the official site and the live Viator listings in October 2026.

The quick answer

The cave alone is €34.90 for an adult, the castle alone €24.00, and the official Two Adventures ticket for both is €49.90 (students 16 to 25 €39.90, children 6 to 15 €29.90, children up to 5 €2.00). Buy online, at least a day ahead in summer. On a tour, check whether tickets are included: on the $78 and $80 tours they are not.

How much are Postojna Cave tickets in 2026?

€34.90 for an adult for the cave alone, €24.00 for Predjama Castle alone, and €49.90 for both on the official Two Adventures ticket.

These are the adult prices on the official ticket page in October 2026. The park shows the combo against a crossed-out €58.90, which is simply the two single tickets added together. Prices are per person and can move by date, so the figure at checkout is the one that counts.

Should you buy the cave ticket or the combo?

Take the Two Adventures combo if the castle interests you at all: it costs €15 more than the cave alone and saves €9 against two single tickets.

Only the cave part is tied to a time slot. Under the park’s ticket rules, everything else in a package can be used whenever it suits you within 30 days of your cave tour. You can decide on the castle once you are there.

The Vivarium, the cave-animal exhibition 50 metres from the cave entrance, costs €12.80 on its own. Skip it unless someone in your group loves animals: the regular cave tour already ends with the olms.

Do you need to book Postojna Cave tickets in advance?

In summer, yes: the park recommends buying online, and in summer at least a day before your visit.

Online tickets arrive by email with a QR code. Show it on your phone or print it. Be at the cave entrance at least 30 minutes before your tour, because train boarding starts 15 minutes before the tour time.

Out of season the choice of times shrinks: from November to March there are three tours a day, at 10:00, 12:00 and 15:00, per the official timetable. Miss one and you wait a while.

Can you change or cancel an official ticket?

You can change the tour time: free up to 24 hours before, €2 per ticket after that, and €5 at the ticket office in the last 30 minutes.

The published rules cover changing the time, not refunds. Tours on Viator work differently: every one on this site cancels for a full refund up to 24 hours before the start.

Keep your ticket until you leave. The park says every ticket holder has basic accident insurance while in the attraction area.

Plans not fixed yet? Every tour here cancels for a full refund up to 24 hours before.

Which Postojna Cave tours include the entrance tickets?

The flagship tour, the half day with all tickets, the Piran day and the trip from Trieste include both. The two cheapest tours from Ljubljana, the Lake Bled day and the Zagreb day do not, and the Koper port tour includes the cave only.

The cheap ones are not a trick. You just pay twice: once on Viator for the transport and guide, once at the ticket office for entry. The operators quote combined tickets from €41.90 to about €45 on their listings; the park’s own adult price for the combo is €49.90.

Is a cheaper tour plus tickets cheaper overall?

Barely: add €49.90 to the $78 or $80 fare and you land close to the $121 and $131 tours that include tickets, depending on the exchange rate.

Pick on the shape of the day instead. The small-group tour keeps to a minivan of up to eight and the guide helps you at the ticket office. One guest on the same operator’s Bled day wrote that the guide “explains exactly where to get tickets (and all ticketing options to save money)”.

The flagship listing promises a skip-the-line service. Not everyone felt it: one guest wrote, “Skipping line is a lie. We waited all lines or we waited for our guide to wait all the lines.” At peak times the queue for the train is the same for everyone.

Fine with buying tickets yourself? The small-group tour is the lowest fare on this site.

Are there discounts for children, students and families?

Yes: on the combo, students 16 to 25 pay €39.90, children 6 to 15 pay €29.90 and children up to 5 pay €2.00.

From 24 October to 1 November 2026 the park sells family tickets: with two adult tickets, up to two children under 15 go free. That makes the cave €69.80 and the cave plus castle €99.80 for the family. Visitors with a mobility impairment and their companion get 50% off with a certificate, at the ticket office only.

On tours, child rates depend on the operator. The flagship counts ages 3 to 12 as children, and only when they share with two paying adults. More in Postojna Cave with kids.

Where do you buy tickets on the day?

At the main ticket office next to the black Expo Cave Karst pavilion, about 150 metres from the cave entrance, or at the ticket office in front of Predjama Castle.

Both take cards and cash. Parking at the cave costs €6 for the day. If you have no car for the castle, the same office arranges taxis; see Ljubljana to Postojna for the other ways across.

Want the tickets sorted before you leave Ljubljana? The half day includes both, in a group of up to eight.
